Haha.... The stress of the examinations is of course daunting, for some who wish to opt for the VIP route. They need a extremely good result in order to pass the tests. Thus, I can say that they have to study super duper hard in order to be admitted into VJC...

But I am not one who wishes to opt for IP... Besides, the IP Curriculum is almost the same as the normal route, only without the depth of teaching that the teachers teach you in VS. Sigh~ It's too complicated.

Life is good at VS, why change? Some people feel that IP promotes independent and self work, but then again, when you go out of education to work, you work as a team with your crew. Very few people work alone and succeed. It takes the brains of a group to solve a complex theorem... Even Thomas Edison, who patented up to 2000 inventions, worked with his wife and his team to do his work.

Talking about this, today was Lit and I thought the paper was too long (1 h and 3o minutes) o.o... But in the end, I felt that I did not do pretty well....

今天考的华文测验一并不容易, 一篇公函,一篇说明文,但我觉得自己做得不错。

Singing to the tune of Paramore's When it Rains,

When it rains on this side of town it touches
Everything
Say it again and mean it
We don't miss a thing
PRE: You made yourself a bed at the bottom of the blackest hole
Convinced yourself that it's not the reason you don't see the sun anymore.

Oh oh how could you do it?
Oh I - I never saw it coming
Oh oh I need an ending
So why can’t you stay long enough to explain

And when it rains
You always find an escape
Just running away from all of the ones who love you
From everything
You made yourself a bed at the bottom of the blackest hole
You'll sleep till May and you'll say that you don't wanna see the sun anymore.

Oh oh how could you do it?
Oh I - I never saw it coming
Oh oh I need an ending
So why can’t you stay long enough to explain

Explain yourself
Take my time
Take these chances to turn it around
Yeah take these chances and make it somehow
Take these chances to turn it around
Just turn it around

Oh oh - how could you do it?
Oh I - I never saw it coming
Oh oh I need an ending
So why can’t you stay long enough to explain

You could take your time
And take my time.

The exuberant fun, the tears in each and every one of the pupils as we left Cambodia on that fateful day, 14 March 2008. We said our goodbyes to the cheerful tour guide, Mr. Soo Peng Thai, and the ever-vigilant bus driver, who could smash a u-turn 180 degrees on a two-way main road without any dividers in Siam Reap... The trip could not have been better. It was my best holiday outing to overseas until now.

It was a fleeting moment when we said our goodbyes to our parents and Singapore. I could really feel the rush and the adrenaline pumping everywhere through my body. We boarded SilkAir and flew a 2 hours journey to Cambodia. I must say though, the SilkAir captain was a very skilled pilot. We landed without any sudden droppings or even bumpy rides.

The Phnom Penh International Airport was brillant in architecture and design. Despite its small stature and size, it was almost the equivalent of a 3-star international airport. Smooth passport control and baggage, we were zooming into the bustling streets of Phnom Penh immediately after that.

Due to the shortage of time I have for blogging, I shall summarize the rest of the trip.

We experienced the ghostly horrors of the Khmer Rouge regime when we visited the Toul Sleng Museum and the Killing Field. It was simply ghastly that around 20000 people were tortured and only 7 managed to make it out alive. They killed small infants, women, men alike, without mercy, without fear.

Then, we visited the Royal Palace, a wonderful built structure with magnificent architecture. Though we could not take any pictures of the beautiful crafted Buddhas inside the palace, it was simply brillant.

The next day, after we were transferred to Siam Reap, we rowed along the Tonle Sap river to enjoy the grandeur of the sea and explore the different geographical aspects. Questions like how did the people adapt to the environment there was answered with they built floating villages, restaurants, schools, basketball courts, libraries etc. It was pitiful to see a
young boy sitting on a speedboat coming forth towards our boat and climbing up the boat, agile as
a monkey, to sell drinks to us. He was only about 5 years of age, wearing a woollen cap and a
sweater.

On the third day, we went to the orphanage to give out all our old clothes and food. I could see that the people at the orphanage were streaming with tears at the magnificent gifts that we have gave them. Then, we went to the market to have a first-hand experience at the Cambodian market. Though the rates there were cheaper than Singapore's, the quality of food there was also not bad. We went straight back to the orphanage and helped the students to cook some lunch. There was a big wok that we could cook everything in and a huge fire that they made below the wok. I could safely say that my Home Econs skills were marvellous... lol

On the fourth day, we made a beeline to Angkor Thome City to see the awesomeness of the Angkor Wat, the mystical and mysterious Bayon, the earth and green overpowered Pra Thom and the friendship of two - Hinduism and Buddhism at the Elephant terrace.

Lastly, we went to the Old Market to get the last bargain we would ever get in Cambodia. We were rocking out all the 甜言蜜语 that we had. Getting 5 books for $16 was a huge bargain.

Cambodia is a beautiful place to visit. It is simply awesome and amazing.

The atmosphere was tense. It was the last match of the finals. Shaun and a Anglican badminton player were playing, albeit dog tired, craving for fresh, refreshing water. The score was 20 all. The score for both teams was 2-2, with VS garnering from the first doubles and second singles, and AH garnering from the other matches.

Time slowed to a matrix. Shaun served the ball. The AH player landed a smash on Shuan's left court. Shaun returned the shot with a defensive hit. The AH player attempted another smash. It misfired and landed outside. 21-20.

The atmosphere was still tense. Shaun served again. The AH player was too stressed out. He misfired again.

The ball landed outfield again. Shaun has won! VS has got their revenge!

Oh well... I admit I'm a sports maniac sometimes..

Soccer. Floorball. Basketball. Badminton. Table Tennis. I'm really into sports. Even though I'm like a jack of all trades, master of none in most of the sports.

But since I started playing floorball after seetoh encouraged me to go for one training session... I got hooked up on it.

Now, alvin wants to challenge me on a one on one showdown... LOL. He has not played floorball for 2 years. I think I'll have a slight edge over him....

Now I really really missed PE on Friday... I mean, I'm the type of guy who is hyperactive in the sports side and "Gentle" and "Demure" on the gentlemanly side.

With every baby step I took, my leg was filled with excruciating pain so much that I was limping about around the benches outside the field... It was terribly painful and I really missed the days when I was a goal-machine, scoring like Ruud Van Nistelrooy...

But now...

I have lost my former self and cannot score as many goals as before...

But now...

I have acquired some skill in this new sport... Floorball... Yes! Dribbling around man-markers, rushing around the unskilled Secondary 1s, leaving them rooted to the ground...

Fuwhaahahaha...

I'm so bad... LOL
